What do you think about this sentence: "Tourism is responsible for the effects or changes that may suffer a touristic comunity , but it's also a victim of this effects and changes". I heard it from one of my teachers but....how much opportunity there is for the truth and how much it is a lie?

Tourism is definitely partly responsible for the changes that a touristic community may undergo, though by no means do I think it's 100% responsible. Communities and cultures are constantly changing, with or without tourism.

About tourism being a victim...maybe. I do think it may get a bad reputation sometimes. I often hear about people not wanting to recommend a certain area for fear it will change as a result of tourism. Again, I think change is inevitable, with or without tourism.

Great question!

Tourism is definitely a factor that makes a change in a touristic community for better and for worst. Like Holly said, communities and cultures are constantly changing and there is alot of truth to that.
Its nature itself and us humans that make things better and make things change for worst.

It’s totally true: Turism is responsible for the effects and changes of a touristic community. However, in my opinion, many of those changes are positive. With tourism you have more job vacancies, more training, etc.
Tourism being a victim? Yes, sometimes it is. Many travelers trust more than they should, it happened to me hahaha

I think the nature of the tourism is also really important to take into consideration. Which is why sustainable and responsible tourism is so important.

Yeah! I also think that touristic communities are constantly changing, for better or worst. But the results of these changes depends both from the community itself as well as tourists. For instance as a community, they can set or advise tourists the manner in which tourism should be carried out within it. And as a tourist, the best thing that you can do while you´re visiting a community is respect their costumes and traditions, as well as their natural resources; thus benefiting both.

I agree! Travelers definitely need to respect the communities where they travel to.

Local tourism boards should probably take more responsibility for education both to travelers and to local hotels, regarding how they can respect and promote local cultures.
