for an eco adventure
Great location, right in the Cuyabeno Preserve. This means you’ll definitely see the most varied wildlife, all the time. From monkeys to pink river dolphins, there’s always something to see. The ambiance was great, staying in thatch-roofed accommodations, great traditional food, and fun tours with our guide and host, Kurt. When we went there with my wife we really didn’t have any problems with mosquitoes, but take repellent just in case.

Great adventure in the rainfor

I went to Tapir Lodge with my wife last April, and had the best travel experience…The lodge was very comfortable, and best of all, had a great atmosphere (to the point where we often forgot we were tourists, and felt like right at home-yes, at home in the middle of the rainforest!) Kurt, our host and the owner of the lodge, couldn’t have been more helpful. Plus, he’s an encyclopedia of knowledge on the area (which is basically what you want when you find yourself in a place so different from where you tend to be). The surroundings were unbelievably beautiful, the sunset mesmerizing (definitely take your camera everywhere you go!). Swimming in the river at dusk was surprisingly the highlight of my trip, although you might like the wildlife viewing tours better.

great wildlife
I spent about ten days in Ecuador two months ago, and during my visit I stayed at this great lodge and was lucky enough to experience the remote calm and beauty of the Cuyabeno Preserve. Kurt, the owner of the lodge, was very friendly and taught me much about the area. The guided tours into the forest were great, and very educational. The lodge itself was very comfortable and the food was delicious. I’m glad I came here and would gladly return if I ever travel to Ecuador again.
