Rocha, Uruguay Summary
Located in the southeastern part of South America, Uruguay offers cultural wealth, architectural heritage, and serene landscapes. Visitors to the country can take in the cultural scene in Montevideo, the country’s capital, or enjoy Punta del Este’s sandy beaches. Uruguay’s coastline is a treasure chest, with dunes and enchanting lagoons for the explorer to discover. The picturesque 17th-century port of Colonia is also well worth the visit, especially for those interested in South America’s unique history. For those who wish to really soak in the Uruguayan way of life, it is possible to spend the night at an estancia (ranch) and experience the grandeur of gaucho country and the warmth of the people. With its vibrant locals and stunning sceneries, Uruguay is well worth discovering.

My visit to Rocha last summer
After a few days of mountains an valleys we finally arrived at the beach, Chuy has big waves to surf in and cristal clear water. Next we stopped at Santa Teresa, a ecologic reserve that has magnificent places to visit like a zoo and a fortress from the times of Artigas. Just a few km from there is Punta del Diablo, what to say about this place, paradise on earth, a little fishermen village that charms you the moment you arrive. We missed the entrance to Cabo Polonio but is already scheduled for our next trip since we hear that is worth knowing. We ended our tour trough Rocha at La Paloma, very nice place where you can just lay on the sand to enjoy a live music band while sipping a cold drink during the evening or at night since there are lots of pubs at the shore that are open all night long.

Question
I heard there's no light all through town, what's up with that?

Looking for peace?
Cabo Polonio is the best place to find it. A unimog will lead you to a thousand miles of sand, right next to the sea. At lounch time you can enjoy some fish at one of the small bars on the beach. And at the end of the day red, pink and yellow colours of the sunset will surprise you and let you take unforgettable pictures.
